About Me

Hello! I am in my 6th year, teaching at Barber Middle School. I have taught a variety of subjects and levels of mathematics since joining the Barber family. I am currently teaching the 6th and 7th grade accelerated content math classes and the 6th grade Math 180 class. In addition to teaching, I have served as the mathematics department coordinator for the past two years.

Before teaching at Barber Middle School, my husband and I spent three years teaching in Utah. There I taught a wide variety of subjects, including: middle school on-level and advanced mathematics, special education mathematics, elementary general music, middle school band, elementary and middle school chorus, musical theater, and track.

I attended Columbus State University where I obtained my degree in Music Education with a voice concentration. After entering the teaching field, I decided that I was more passionate about teaching mathematics and pursued my certification in mathematics education. I am now duelly certified in both subjects. Since then, I attended Kennesaw State University and received a Masters in Middle Grades Mathematics Education with a gifted endorsement. I am currently working toward a certification in Educational Leadership with the hopes of one day becoming an administrator in Cobb County.

For the past (almost) ten years I have been married to Barber Middle School's band director, Robert Grogan. We have a six year old boy, Jude, and a 19 month old baby girl, Emma. When we are not at work, tutoring, or working with marching bands, we spend our time with those two precious babies.
